Photo 101 – Warmth and Quality of Light
I took this picture at the Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve in the Santa Cruz Mountains west of San Jose/Silicon Valley. The sun isn’t in this shot…but, it is obvious that these California Golden Poppies sure know where that sun is in the sky!
Not many shadows in this picture. But, I think the combination of the Golden Poppies, the green grass, and blue sky feels like a warm day to me. What do you think?
I might experiment with getting some more side lit shots on my next hike. Can I submit an assignment more than once for extra credit? 🙂
If you’re looking for me, I’m over the hill.
What is it about the light in California? I had not gotten to the caption yet, but the second I saw the photo of the poppies I knew it was California because of the way the light is so gold and diffused somehow..Hard to explain, but once I spent some glorious time bathed in it, I have forever recognized it. Great photos.
