Black and White Photo 5 Day Challenge – Day 1

I’m taking on the Black and White Photo 5 Day Challenge beginning today.  I’ve been challenged by a great photographer from down under who shows off his skills here:

Creaking Bones

This shot was taken at Coal Creek Open Space Preserve in the Santa Cruz Mountains just west of San Jose/Silicon Valley.

I like how the shadows and the trees on the trail look in this black and white format.  What do you think?

If you’re looking for me, I’m over the hill.

  1. Great tonal control that really shows up the blacks and the greys. The arch of the trees over the track and its curve has been captured so well in your composition. The image invites the viewer to question, ‘what awaits around the curve in the road?’ Very well done. By the way, thanks for the compliment.
