B&W Photo 5 Day Challenge – Day 3!
While hiking in the Thornewood Open Space Preserve in hills above Woodside, California, I stopped for a drink of water alongside Dennis Martin Creek. The wind was whistling through the redwoods and this small waterfall filled up a crystal clear mountain pool. To tell you the truth, it was hard to get up and head back up the trail.
Let me know what you think of my third effort in the black and white photo challenge.
If you’re looking for me, I’m over the hill.
The subject brightness range was obviously quite large when this image was made. This has caused some detail in the foreground to be lost whilst it is in abundance through the rest of the image. Perhaps a bit of judicious cropping of the two boulders in the immediate foreground would benefit the whole. Otherwise, a great piece of composition, viewpoint and f stop selection.

I looked at my post again on my PC and noticed the same thing…the foreground does look washed out. I do have problems with the light in the forest quite often. Thanks for your suggestions!
