The Thursday Picture – Lazy River

1-DSC_1856

This week’s Thursday Picture was taken in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains, California.

That’s the San Lorenzo River which, at least on the summer day this was taken, lazily bisects the northern portion of the park.  I shot this from the River Trail, an easy, family friendly trail in the park.

Where are you hiking this weekend?

If you’re looking for me, I’m over the hill.

The Thursday Picture – Beach on Top of the Mountain

The Beach on top of the mountain! Hike 2310 million years ago, the sand beneath my boots on the hiking trail in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park was part of the ocean floor!  This trail crosses a ridge in what is known as, appropriately, “the Sandhills.”

From 1,500 year old Redwoods to a beach on top of the mountain…Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park has something unique around every turn on the trail.

And, if you’re looking for me on the trail, well, I’m over the hill!

Dale’s Feet File Grievance!

Dale’s Feet Here…while Dale is lolly gagging up this hill, and lolly gagging down that valley, does he ever think about us?  Noooo…he just thinks about what he is going to blah, blah, blah, about in his blog http://www.imoverthehill.com

Case in point:  Over the weekend, Dale went hiking at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  “Let’s go to the coast, look at the old redwoods, climb to the top of the mountain, take some pictures, it will be a great time!”

Blister between toes...really?Come on!  We were giving the clumsy guy signals the last mile of the hike!

And when he takes off his hiking socks at the car, he acts “surprised” that his foot is a little bloody and we have a giant blister on lefty?!!

WHAT?!?!

We’re filing a grievance with Dr. Scholl.  Anybody have his number?
